We know how difficult it can be to find a therapist who understands us and truly sees us with no judgment. Our therapists are all part of the LGBTQIA+ community themselves and provide expert, affirming care.

Most folks with in-network insurance will pay just their copay (usually around $15-50) for therapy sessions (this will depend on your individual plan and whether or not you’ve met your deductible). Otherwise, sessions are $129/visit when paying out-of-pocket.

We currently offer talk therapy in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, New York, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia (with more states to come). Not in one of those states? We’re expanding to other states as soon as we can. Let us know your interest by filling out this short form.

Alex
they/them
Therapist

I’m a neurodivergent queer trans non-binary therapist who goes to therapy myself. My style is empathetic, nonjudgmental, and member-centered. My approach is trauma-informed, intersectional, and collaborative. You are the expert in your own experience and I’d like to work with you to understand your past and present, and to bolster the skills and strengths that you already have. I’ve been providing individual therapy to LGBTQ+ young adults and adults for over 5 years. I strive to walk alongside you in your mental health journey and we may stumble but we can repair. When I’m not working, you can find me swimming or reading sci-fi, the more complex and nuanced the world-building, the better.

I am a clinical social worker, with 20 years experience working with clients on issues including but not limited to; foster care involvement, abuse/neglect, gender identity, pre-marital counseling, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and generalized anxiety. I have a Master of Social Work from KU.

I am a proud mother of five amazing people, both biological and stepchildren, and the grandmother to one perfect baby. I spend my free time passionately watching KU basketball (Rock Chalk!), reading true crime novels, and living life loudly with my friends and family! It is my calling to provide a safe space for all around me, specifically those in the LGBTQIA+ and alternative lifestyle communities.

Together we will set goals that will lead you on a path of healing. I will use humor and compassion, amongst other tools in my toolbox, to help you achieve the goals YOU want to achieve. I see therapy as a collaborative effort - a team sport. Sometimes you just need an objective viewpoint to help you see things a little more clearly.

For FOLX members outside of those states looking for therapy, we can help you find an inclusive mental health provider via our referral network. Please submit a request and one of our Member Navigators will be happy to work with you.

What other mental health support does FOLX provide?

As part of a FOLX membership, you have access to FOLX clinicians who can provide treatment for anxiety, depression, and insomnia. You also get an entire community of support through our FOLX Community Platform which includes support groups, live chat, resources, guides, and more, along with support from your member navigation team who can answer any questions you have and get you any referrals you need.

Can I use insurance for therapy?

Yes! If you have in-network insurance with us, you can use your insurance to help cover the cost of therapy.

A superbill can be submitted to your insurance provider, FSA, or HSA for reimbursement if you have out-of-network coverage. This can help you get reimbursed for some or all of your out-of-pocket payment.
