We know how difficult it can be to find a therapist who understands us and truly sees us with no judgment. Our therapists are all part of the LGBTQIA+ community themselves and provide expert, affirming care.

Most folks with in-network insurance will pay just their copay (usually around $15-50) for therapy sessions (this will depend on your individual plan and whether or not you’ve met your deductible). Otherwise, sessions are $129/visit when paying out-of-pocket.

We currently offer talk therapy in California, Colorado, and Florida (with more states to come). Not in one of those states? We’re expanding to other states as soon as we can. Let us know your interest by filling out this short form.

Meet our therapists:

Emily (they/them)

is a white, trans/non-binary Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has worked as a therapist with queer, transgender, and gender expansive individuals since 2016. As a member of the trans and gender expansive communities themself, Emily understands how important it can be to find a provider that understands your lived experiences, and how much this can impact the therapy experience. They work from Person-Centered, Attachment, DBT, and Somatic approaches, and are deeply rooted in anti-racist, harm reductionist, and feminist frameworks. Emily believes that you are the expert of your own life, and they will work to support you as you work towards your goals, and ensure you have the tools available to make the decisions that are best for you.

Mere (they/them)

is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of California and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. They have over a decade of experience supporting trans and gender-diverse youth, young adults, and adults in mental health, medical, and community-based settings. Mere works with clients to build upon their strengths and self-understanding, process trauma, manage anxiety, change behavior, make sense of thinking habits and patterns, and develop coping skills. Mere is committed to co-creating intentional and nonjudgmental spaces for clients to share, learn, discover, heal, and grow.

Melissa (she/her)

is a multi state licensed psychotherapist and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. She has extensive clinical experience in providing affirming cognitive behavioral therapy targeting a range of symptoms and issues. She has advanced training in SUDS, PTSD, and mindful based stress reduction. Melissa endorses a strength-based, solution focused approach to care focused on delivering relief while building insight. She works to establish a therapeutic environment that is rooted in trust, dignity, and a bit of humor.

Popular Questions

Where is FOLX therapy available?

We currently offer individual therapy in California, Colorado, and Florida. We’ll be expanding across the US soon, so sign up for our newsletter and be the first to know when we launch in your state!

For FOLX members outside of those states looking for therapy, we can help you find an inclusive mental health provider via our referral network. Please submit a request and one of our Member Navigators will be happy to work with you.

What other mental health support does FOLX provide?

As part of a FOLX membership, you have access to FOLX clinicians who can provide treatment for anxiety, depression, and insomnia. You also get an entire community of support through our FOLX Community Platform which includes support groups, live chat, resources, guides, and more, along with support from your member navigation team who can answer any questions you have and get you any referrals you need.

Can I use insurance for therapy?

Yes! If you have in-network insurance with us, you can use your insurance to help cover the cost of therapy.

We can also provide a superbill for you. A superbill is a document that provides an itemized list of the services you received from FOLX, along with the fees you have paid for those services. A superbill can be submitted to your insurance provider, FSA, or HSA for reimbursement if you have out-of-network coverage. This can help you get reimbursed for some or all of your out-of-pocket payment.
