Tirrell Cherry (he/him) is a hypnotist & mindset coach currently based in Atlanta. He gets super excited talking about how the subconscious mind is the key to manifesting and creating major changes in our lives. Tirrell helps people shift their limiting beliefs so that they can get unstuck and start experiencing more clarity, peace, freedom and regain the confidence needed in order to create a life on their own terms.

We chatted with him before his workshop this week, "How to Manage Stress: Anxiety Rx" as panel as part of the FOLX Health & Wellness Summit, and learned about their aura and mantra. Read on to find out what plant Tirrell would be, that anxiety and excitement are the same, and what his wellness mantra is.

Q: If people could see your aura, what would it look like?

I’ve had my aura photo taken a few times at Magic Jewelry in New York and it’s always shades of lavender mixed with a deep blue. I like that.

Q: How do you practice radical self-love?

By being more open to receiving good things. I used to feel like happiness or luck were experiences that always expired, or that if I got too excited everything would disappear. I am practicing being way more chill about what comes and goes into my life and spending more of my energy on receiving in gratitude.

Q: What kind of plant are you?

Something bright, very green and leafy, doesn’t need a lot, and definitely loves the attention. I’m thinking of something like Devil’s Ivy.

Q: What is one part of your routine that you can’t live without?

Mindful movement. That could look like going to the gym, doing yoga, or even just walking with my dog without my phone. When my energy is funky and I need a reset, I find something to help shift the energy.

Q: How do you cope when you’re feeling anxious

Honestly, I stop and breathe and remind myself to stop projecting into the future. It’s a process, and not an easy one, but being able to pull myself back to the moment and see that I’m imagining worst-case scenarios has really helped me from saying or doing things I’d probably regret later. I once heard that excitement and anxiety feel the same in the body, so when we feel anxious if we tell ourselves we’re actually excited that could change our emotional landscape to bring in more calm.

Q: What is your wellness mantra?

Less judgment, more appreciation.
